RICHARD B. HUNEKE
D.V.M., M.P.H., is the Executive Director of University Laboratory Animal Resources and the Attending Veterinarian at Drexel University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA. He also serves as the Associate Director for the Master in Laboratory Animal Science (MLAS) program and is a Professor in the Department of Microbiology and Immunology. Rick serves as an Emeritus member of the Council for Accreditation for AAALAC, International and is the Past-President of the BOD for the Pennsylvania Society for Biomedical Research.
After obtaining his degree in veterinary medicine from the Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Medicine in Blacksburg, Virginia, Rick received a Master Degree in Public Health (MPH) at the Johns Hopkins University School of Public Health. His post-doctoral fellowship was completed at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in Laboratory Animal Medicine.
Rick has over 30 years of veterinary medical experience and over 25 years as a laboratory animal specialist with extensive experience in clinical care and disease prevention, supervision, facility design and management, animal model development, IACUC and regulations, and biosafety in both AAALAC-accredited academic and pharmaceutical environments. He is a Diplomate of the American College of Laboratory Animal Medicine (ACLAM) and an active member of several professional veterinary organizations. Rick serves as an Emeritus member of the Council for Accreditation for AAALAC, International and is the Past-President of the BOD for the Pennsylvania Society for Biomedical Research. He has published and presented many papers in the field of laboratory animal medicine.
